Glasshouse is a group of former research buildings that form part of the Alderley Park campus. The buildings have been connected around a central atrium with partial shell works already completed by BDP. Bridge Architects have been commissioned to complete the architectural and interior design, to provide a variety of workspaces, communal facilities and breakout areas. The proposals include further shell alterations and the addition of new elements; such as internal terraces which serve to better link the office spaces with the atrium. The main entrance to the building has been repositioned in order to link the main avenue through the campus.
The three existing office buildings around the atrium have been reconfigured to provide a mix of workspace including co-working, serviced, managed and traditional office lets, complemented by meeting rooms, kitchen/lounges and phone booths. The atrium itself is conceived as an English garden with four distinct spaces. Each space provides leisure and work areas.
The project was shortlisted for 'Best Unbuilt Commercial Project' at the 2018 MSA Awards.
The project is due to start on site mid 2018
